What are Facials?
Medical-grade facials are advanced skincare treatments performed in a medical spa setting by licensed professionals, under the supervision of a physician. Unlike day spa facials, these treatments use clinical-strength products, technologies, and techniques to target specific skin concerns more effectively.
Medical-grade facials are ideal for clients looking for results-driven skincare with little to no downtime, and are often incorporated into long-term skin maintenance or corrective treatment plans.

Are medical-grade facials safe?
Yes, SkinPen is FDA-cleared and clinically proven to be a safe and effective microneedling device when administered by a trained professional. It’s designed to create controlled micro-injuries that stimulate natural skin healing without damaging the surrounding tissue.
It is safe for all skin tones and types, including darker skin tones. Unlike some energy-based treatments, it carries minimal risk of hyperpigmentation or post-inflammatory discoloration, making it an inclusive option for diverse skin types.
How often do I need facials?
The number of SkinPen microneedling sessions depends on your specific skin concerns and desired results. For general skin rejuvenation, 3 treatments, spaced about 4 weeks apart.
Your provider will assess your skin and customize a treatment plan based on your goals, skin condition, and how your skin responds after the first session. Most clients start seeing visible improvement after the first 1–2 treatments, with full results developing over time.
What are contraindications for facials?
SkinPen may not be suitable for people with active acne, skin infections or rashes, history of keloid scarring, blood disorders or anticoagulant therapy, pregnancy or breastfeeding, or autoimmune conditions.
Always consult with your provider to determine if SkinPen is appropriate for your skin and health history.
How long will my results last?
Results from SkinPen microneedling can last several months to over a year, depending on your skin condition, age, lifestyle, and how well you care for your skin after treatment.
For long-term benefits, many clients opt for maintenance treatments 1–2 times per year, along with a good skincare routine, sun protection, and a healthy lifestyle.
Keep in mind that natural aging continues, so periodic treatments help sustain and enhance results over time.
Do facials hurt?
SkinPen microneedling is generally well-tolerated by most clients, and discomfort is minimal.
To ensure your comfort, a topical numbing cream is applied before the procedure to significantly reduce any sensation.
After the procedure, the skin may feel tight, warm, or slightly sunburned for a few hours.
What is the downtime for a facial?
SkinPen microneedling has minimal downtime, making it a popular treatment for those with busy schedules.
- Immediately after: Your skin may look red or flushed, similar to a sunburn. Mild swelling, tightness, or sensitivity is also common.
- First 24–48 hours: Redness and warmth gradually fade. You may notice mild dryness, flaking, or rough texture as your skin begins to heal.
- By Day 3–4: Some visible signs of treatment have resolved. Some people experience very light peeling.
- By Day 5–7: Skin typically looks smoother, more radiant, and feels more refreshed.
